Beauty, horror and embracing a sense of play are the themes behind this show: a mix of elements from discarded consumer culture, and nature. We’re seeking beauty in the discord, humour and simplicity within the spectacle and looking at strains of human activity within the environment. It’s a bowerhouse of ideas!

All the distractions and preoccupations that we turn to, beyond survival, while we continue to sail down the river of denial; religion, ritual, sports, fantasy, consumerism and entertainment.

Bernadette’s work playfully mines the cultural, metamorphic and entropic interface between discarded objects from human cultural activity and thoughts about life / death, nature, politics and propaganda.  Her works present a commentary on the effects of human engagement with the environment.  Living in NQ, she lives close to nature and at the coalface of the seemingly ceaseless colonisation of the natural environment.
